The appellant, Wilma Lucille Anderson (hereinafter defendant) was tried on the charge of first-degree murder for the stabbing
death of Aretta Anderson (unrelated, and hereinafter Aretta). The defendant pleaded not guilty, and not guilty by reason of
insanity. The defendant also elected the A. L. I. test 1 of insanity, which resulted in a sequential trial. She was tried
to a jury and convicted on December 13, 1969. On this appeal, the defendant raises two issues: (1) The trial court erred in refusing to submit a verdict for second-degree
murder, and (2) a new trial should be granted in the interest of Justice.
